The social thinking program by Ascend Pediatrics is built and supported by multiple evidence-based programs to help kids continue to expand their social skills, regulation and emotional awareness. Within this 10-week program we will take an in-depth look at emotional regulation and social skills supported by evidence based practice within our community. We will start to expand skills such as emotional awareness, coping strategies, perspective taking, social awareness, collaboration, play and flexibility.
As we build social skills we will be able to tie in regulation skills for the kids sensory & emotional programming. As we take perspectives of a combined approach of the “Alert System”, “Zones of Regulation” “The Whole Brain Child” and “Interoception Program” we can support kids to learn about their body systems & cues, emotional responses and coping strategies!
With a combination of the social skills, emotional regulation and sensory tools, the program will be able to support a holistic approach where we can allow kids to address their challenges while relying on the strengths of their peers. The “You are a Social Detective” will support kids to learn how to take in all the information presented and make a smart guess about what is happening within the environment and what is expected of them. As we see kids grow we notice more with having peers to engage in a group play, peer responses, and build a social emotional connection!
